ICP Global Energy Audit

The purpose of energy monitoring is to provide fundamental information to assist in overall strategy for data centre or server rooms' energy efficiency improvement, providing energy monitoring and management information from the 'Point of Entry' into the Data Centre, to individual Data Racks. The deployment of the Unite Environmental monitoring solution provides a high level of information granularity and will allow users to accurately measure and deploy,

  • Energy use against Department / Supplier Service Level Agreements.
  • Provide management reports on energy capacity, trend analysis and define areas where significant energy saving can be achieved, qualified and quantified.
  • Power and cooling demands (through IT and supporting services optimisation, air flow optimisation, fan efficiency and cooling etc).
  • Increased efficiency through raised temperatures and free cooling.
  • Improved maintenance of refrigeration systems.
  • Data rack consolidation and other opportunities.
  • Improved resilience of power supply integrity.

The deployment of the energy monitoring audit is measured against the above requirements to identify and make recommendations to reduce energy costs and to meet future Government Carbon Reduction Commitments.

The site audit will consist of real time power monitoring of racks over a 1-2 week period, to identify current rack Capacity, Temperature and power consumption performance, and to identify inefficiencies, this will consist of the installation of
  • Energy use against Department / Supplier Service Level Agreements.
  • Device managers such as RackMs, Hawk or Eagle i and Eagle i Extension Module.
  • CL-Amps (real time non invasive current monitoring device)
  • Clamp to Ei Cables (assorted lengths)
  • Environmental Sensors, Temperature sensor
  • Server, Data Collection Software [DCIQ] or ENV-3
  • PC server
